John Joseph Vecchio, M.D.

John Joseph Vecchio, 74, entered into rest on December 04, 2018.

John was born on August 15, 1944 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late Angelo Vecchio and Angelina Tumminello Vecchio. He attended Central Catholic High School in his hometown. After high school, he attended King’s college in the same community. John graduated from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine Degree. John served an Internship before entering the United States Army. While stationed at Fort Benning, he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After his service, John completed a Urology Residency in Chicago, Illinois. In 1983, John opened his private practice in Urology in Warner Robins, Georgia. He served his community in medicine until his retirement in 2008. John was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed serving his community on the church’s school board.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 48 years, Arlene Leski Vecchio; children, Karyn Irwin (Christopher) of Sugar Land, Texas and Michelle Vecchio-Weinmeister (Joseph) of Athens, Georgia; grandchildren; Nathan Weinmeister, Cleo Weinmeister, Gavin Irwin, Blake Irwin, and Karl John Weinmeister; siblings, Gloria Bellas (Bill), James Vecchio (Marie), Michael Vecchio (Cindy) and Angelo Vecchio; and several nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be said on Friday, December 07, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 08, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
