John Ronald Cheney, 72, entered into rest on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

John Ronald Cheney was born in Oriskany, New York, on February 5, 1954. He was the son of the late Harry E. Cheney and Barbara Davenport Cheney. John grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida, and lived in Georgia for many years.

John served his country in the United States Air Force during the 1996 Vietnam Conflict. After the military, he continued to serve his country for an additional 27 years as a Paramedic with Macon County EMS. John was faithful in his service to his nation and the community which he called home. John was also a passionate and talented guitarist and songwriter. He shared his talents with his church and with outreach ministries. John played worship music daily.

He was admired and loved by many and will be greatly missed.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Terri Cheney of Reynolds; sons, John D. Cheney of Kingsland, and Samuel L. Blackstone of Reynolds; daughters, Amie Blackstone of Minot, North Dakota, and Katie Peterson (Cody) of Warner Robins; daughter-in-law, Bess Blackstone of Reynolds; 14 grandchildren, exactly seven boys and seven girls; as well as three great-grandchildren; and brother, George (Pilar) Cheney of Georgetown, Texas.

At the family’s request, all services held will be private.
