After battling degenerative disc disease, cancer, and other major ailments, Judith Leyton Colvin McKee, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 30, 2014. Judy was born in Lincolnton, GA to the late Addis Griffeth Colvin and James Leyton Colvin. Her father, who was Lincolnton County School Superintendent, he died before she turned 2. She was raised by her mother who was also Lincolnton County School Superintendent and Houston County School System Director of Curriculum. After graduating from Perry High in 1966, Judy followed in her parent's educational footsteps. She attended the University of Georgia earning her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. While teaching, she continued her education by earning her Master's Degree in Education from Georgia Southwestern. Judy spent 29 of her 32 years of teaching at Miller Elementary, WR. Teaching children to read was her specialty. Judy loved watching birds, dancing and her church.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Richard, of 29 years, daughter, Ginny Belvin Blumberg (Frank), her treasured granddaughter, Taylor Addison Blumberg, her aunt, Mary Frances Griffeth, and a host of adoring cousins and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 5, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist in Warner Robins. A reception where the family will receive guests will be held both before and after the service. Burial will be private at Andersonville National Cemetery.
