Kathryn Eileen Stewart, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 18, 1944, in the charming town of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Kathryn was the cherished daughter of Charles and Veronica Sumner. 

Throughout her life, Kathryn embodied a spirit of warmth and generosity, touching the lives of everyone she met. A dedicated and loving mother, she is survived by her three children, Suzanne Kerns (s) Robbie Kerns, Jimmy Stewart (s) Leigh Stewart, and Richard Stewart (s) Michelle Stewart. Also siblings Shirley Hammond, Chuck Sumner, Steve Sumner, Mike Sumner, & Tom Sumner who will forever hold her memory dear. Kathryn’s legacy of love extends across generations, with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who brought immense joy to her life.

Kathryn spent most of her life in Charlotte, NC. In 2014 she moved to Warner Robins and became active and engaged member of her community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found great fulfillment in her involvement with the 2nd Baptist Church and the Warner Robins Senior groups. Her presence was always felt, whether she was lending a hand, sharing a laugh, or offering her delicious homemade pumpkin bread during the holidays.

Travel was one of Kathryn's greatest joys, and she frequently journeyed to visit loved ones, creating lasting memories and strengthening familial bonds. Her kindness was especially evident during Halloween, when she delighted in passing out candy to neighborhood children, her warm smile a constant presence.

A service to celebrate Kathryn’s life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the 1st Baptist Church, located at 1135 Watson Blvd, Warner Robins, GA 31093. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to join in honoring her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the 2nd Baptist Church Senior Ministry, an organization close to Kathryn's heart.

The Stewart family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at McCullough for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
