Kay Porter Peterson, born June 12, 1935, in Doniphan, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ora and Cora (Golden) Porter.
Kay lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and adventure. As the wife of a military serviceman, she embraced military life wholeheartedly, traveling and living in many places over the years, including Arizona, the Azores, Montana, Italy, and Robins Air Force Base. These experiences shaped her love of travel and introduced her to lifelong friends and memories.
Kay had a passion for bowling and excelled at the sport. She proudly won first place multiple times in her local bowling league and went on to compete in the National Bowling League in Las Vegas on several occasions—an accomplishment she cherished.
Above all else, Kay deeply loved her family and found great joy in time spent with them. Her faith was also an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Kay will be remembered for her warm spirit, competitive enthusiasm, love of travel, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her siblings, Bill Porter, Pat Inzauro, Jean Gauthier, and Jodi Porter.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her sons, David Peterson (Kathy) and James Peterson (Marilyn); grandchildren, Amanda Allen (Chris), Christopher Peterson (Andrea), and Connor Peterson; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Robb (Dylan), Madilyn Allen, Sophia Allen, and Samantha Allen; and niece, Jackie Ireland (Mike) and family.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following in the chapel. Afterward, Kay will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
