Kurt Marcus Vigil, 73, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Kurt was born on March 7, 1953, in Pomona, California to the late Tobias “Toby” and Barbara Vigil. He spent most of his life in California, where he worked as a supervisor for the Los Angeles Times. Kurt also met the love of his life, Cathi, in California, to whom he was married for over thirty-nine years.
Kurt had a deep love for his family that reflected his gentle and caring demeanor. His children, and later his grandchildren, were his world. Kurt was blessed to share his love of baseball with his son as a coach and with his grandkids as an avid supporter.
In his free time, Kurt enjoyed spending time outdoors. He had a passion for fly fishing, but he also had a heart for nature that always compelled him to catch and release.
Kurt had a quiet, calming way about him that always put everyone at ease. He was known for his kind heart, his endless curiosity, and his love for his Savior. The example Kurt set and the moments left behind serve as comfort for all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Kurt was preceded by his brother, Matthew Vigil.
Kurt’s memory will forever be cherished by his wife and best friend, Catherine “Cathi” Vigil; his children, Whitney Vigil Meltzer (Matthew) and Noah Vigil (Kathleen); his grandchildren, Logan, Cayden, and Carson Vigil; his siblings, April Winkle (Robert), Adam Vigil (Tami), and Barbara Vigil; along with a host of friends and family members.
At the request of the family, all services will be private.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given to a charity of your choosing in honor of Kurt’s memory.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
