Lamar Nolan Outz entered into Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Lamar was the son of the late Charlie Outz and Sara Bradley. He graduated from North Fulton High School before continuing his education at Georgia Southern University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

Lamar devoted much of his professional career to Houston Healthcare, where he worked as a recruiter until his retirement. His ability to connect with people extended well beyond his career and into the community he loved. For many years, Lamar coached youth sports, sharing his knowledge, encouragement, and love of the game with young athletes. He also spent an impressive 40 years officiating high school football, becoming a familiar presence on fields throughout the area. Earlier in his career, Lamar was an industrial arts teacher at Tabor Junior High School, served as plant manager at Belvedere, and held various roles with Boeing Georgia.

A man of faith, Lamar was a devoted member of The Well Church for more than 40 years. His church family and the relationships he formed there held a special place in his life.

Sports were one of Lamar’s greatest interests, and he especially loved college football. He was also an active member of the CLOCG Corvette Club, where he enjoyed both the cars and the friendships that came along with them. Lamar was a true handyman who could fix just about anything. Whether something needed repairing, building, or figuring out, he could usually find a way to get it done.

Above all, Lamar was a family man. He and his beloved wife, Marilyn, shared 58 years of marriage and built a life centered around family and the memories they made together. Throughout his life, Lamar answered to many titles, but none brought him greater joy than “Granddaddy.” His grandchildren were a tremendous source of pride and happiness, and the time he spent with them was among his greatest treasures.

In addition to his parents, Lamar was preceded in death by his siblings, William “Bill” Outz and Martha Outz Taylor; brothers-in-law, Steve Byrd and Lee Shiver; and father-in-law, George Shiver.

His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marilyn; children, Jeff Outz, Kevin Outz (Melissa), and Karen Outz Roberts (Andy); grandchildren, Caroline Martha Roberts, Hailey Suzanne Roberts, Ava Leanne Roberts, Caden Calvin Outz, and Macen Nolan Outz; sister, Betty Outz Byrd; mother-in-law, Geneva Shiver; brother-in-law, Phil Shiver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, September 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at The Well at Centerville, with a funeral service immediately following. Afterward, Lamar will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
