SMSgt Lawrence Greene, 79, entered into rest on Friday, October 1, 2010.
SMSgt Greene was born on February 18, 1931 in Stony Fork, North Carolina to the late June and Lola Greene. With great pride and honor he served his country for 23 years in the United States Air Force as an aircraft technician. After retiring from the USAF, SMSgt Greene was employed with Georgia Power for 20 years. A faithful member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church, SMSgt Greene enjoyed staying as busy as possible with gardening, fixing things around the house, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Kate Greene; and brother, Phillip Spann.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of eight years, Elsie Greene, Warner Robins; sons, Jim Greene (Debbie), Warner Robins; Steve Greene (Nancy), Perry; stepdaughters, Sharon Smith (Jeff), Warner Robins; Janet Tomlin, Opelika, AL; brother, Clarence Spann, Lenoir, NC; sister, Virginia Greene, Lenoir, NC; and grandchildren, Kenneth, Nathan, Riley, and Katie Greene.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Andy Cook officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Parkway Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given to the Shirley Hills Building Fund, 615 Corder Road, Warner Robins, GA, 31088.
