Lloyd "Gene" Akins

Lloyd Akins, 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 31 2007. He was a USAF veteran and retired from Robins Air Force Base as a security guard.

Mr. Akins was born on August, 26, 1931 in Columbus, Georgia. He was a member of River of Light Church. His wife, Maelen Jordan Akins, daughter, Kathy Jones, son, Daniel Akins, parents, Lloyd Franklin Akins and Florence Irene Akins, and brother, Ronald Akins, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Alma Register, Warner Robins; son, Michael Akins, Augusta; sisters, Gloria Akins, Thomaston; Catherine Hornett, Livermore; brothers, Daniel Akins and Leroy Akins both of Thomaston; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, November 2, 2007 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
