Louis Thomas "Tommy" Smith, Jr.

Louis Thomas “Tommy” Smith, Jr., 83, a longtime resident of Middle Georgia, passed away at Houston Medical Center on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.


Born on July 15, 1939, in Elberton, Georgia, Tommy was the son of the late Louis Thomas Smith, Sr. and Sara Smith Bush. At the age of seven in 1946, he moved with his family to Warner Robins. Tommy attended Warner Robins High School, where he was part of band and graduated in 1957. He continued his education at Middle Georgia College before working at his family’s business, he Warner Robins Press. Later in 1961, Tommy opened his own business, Tommy Smith Printing that he operated until his retirement in 2010. He volunteered with the Warner Robins Jaycees, was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan, “Go Dawgs!”


In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his brother, John David Smith.


His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Debbie Reid of Gainesville, Florida, Susan Ketschke (Barry) of Westport, Massachusetts, Mark Smith (Laura) of Anchorage Alaska; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, George M. Smith (Francis) Nancy S. Clarke (Arthur), Debbie B. Shumans (Jimmy), Ruth Ann B. McGowan (Remer); and sister-in-law, Marion Smith.


At the family’s request, all services held will be private.


In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Louis Thomas “Tommy” Smith, Jr. to the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Ave. Macon, Georgia 31204.
