Lucas Andrew Payne, 14, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Lucas was born on June 8, 2012, in Warner Robins, Georgia to Andy and Heather Payne. He was born with the rare condition Allan-Herndon-Dudley Syndrome, but he never used it as an excuse. Lucas loved life and used his time on this earth to be a blessing to everyone around him.

He attended Quail Run Elementary, where Mrs. Andrews and his paraprofessionals were his biggest supporters. Through their instrumental love and support, Lucas was able to grow in his comfort and confidence with attending school. He and his family continued to be blessed by his teacher, Mrs. Brown, and countless paraprofessionals at Mossy Creek Middle School.

Lucas had a way of lifting the spirits of everyone around him. He had a beautiful smile, and his laughter always seemed to light up the entire room. He had a funny, flirtatious sense of humor that he enjoyed sharing with others. Lucas was happiest when he was surrounded by people, especially his beloved family. Lucas was his mama’s boy – one of his favorite places was snuggled up beside her with a book.

In his free time, Lucas enjoyed listening to Christian music and especially loved the worship services at his home church, Southside Baptist Church. He was also a big fan of the Miami Hurricanes and the Atlanta Braves – he never missed a chance to pull for his favorite teams. And he always enjoyed a quick trip to the nearest Waffle House, especially if it gave him a chance to spend quality time with his Dad.

Although Lucas’ time was short, he left an indescribable impact. His joy, faith, and enduring spirit served as an inspiration for everyone around him. He will be remembered for his strength, his laughter, and his gentle soul.

Lucas was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Payne and Jerry Robinson.

Lucas is survived by his parents, Andy and Heather Payne; his sister, Mia Adams; his grandmothers, Joyce Payne and Donna Robinson; his great grandmothers, Carolyn Pirkle and Thelma Teat; his uncles, Eric Payne (Robin) and John Payne; his aunt, Amanda Adams; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Lucas will later be laid to rest in a private graveside service at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
