After a brave twelve year battle with cancer, Jeanne Cole, 49, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 4, 2009.
Major Cole was born on January 1, 1960 in Erie, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Academy High School in Erie in 1977 and subsequently from Pittsburgh University. With pride and honor, she served her country in the United States Air Force for twenty years, attaining the rank of Major. The president and CEO of Netsoft Associates in Warner Robins, she attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth Getschow and Rita Laufenberg Getschow.
She will forever live in the hearts of her son, Shaun Cole (Renée), Byron; daughter, Jessica Short (Griff), Americus; grandchildren, Kenneth Cole and Lucas and Ethan Short; sister, Linda Hoover, Erie, Pennsylvania; brothers, Kenneth Getschow II, Newcastle, Delaware, and Ronald Getschow, Cincinnati, Ohio; a number of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 6, 2009, and Tuesday, July 7, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2009, in St. James Catholic Church in Erie, Pennsylvania. Interment will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery in Erie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 915 State Street, Erie PA 16501.
