Manuel "Kimo" O'Canas

Manuel "Kimo" O’Canas passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on October 12, 1982, in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.

Kimo was a dedicated son, a loyal friend, and a man whose kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a good heart and gave his all to those around him, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer support, or share a smile. His generosity, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family and friends will be remembered and cherished forever.

Following his graduation from high school, Kimo pursued higher education and earned his bachelor's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). He went on to build a successful career as an engineer with Northrop, where his intelligence, work ethic, and commitment to excellence earned the respect of his colleagues.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Kimo found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing, preparing delicious barbecue meals for family and friends, and relaxing at the beach. Whether casting a line, standing behind the grill, or enjoying the sound of the waves, he embraced every moment and created lasting memories with those he loved.

Kimo was deeply loved by his family and friends. His warmth, generosity, and selfless spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Kimo was preceded in death by his son, Kai O’Canas; mother, Emiko Kato O’Canas; and sister, Margaret O’Canas.

His memory will forever be treasured by his son, Kyle Chance (Jessica Mock) of Savannah, Georgia; father, Manuel O’Canas; sister, Mary Ocanas of St. Mary’s, Georgia; and step-mother, Joyce Galloway O’Canas.

At the family’s request, all services are private.
