Margaret Burnett Rentz

February 17, 1927 — August 7, 2022

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beautiful Margaret Burnett Rentz. She passed away on the morning of Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the age of 95.

Margaret was born in Byron, GA on February 17, 1927 to the late John Wilton and Lillie Wilkinson Burnett. She retired as the Assistant Personnel Director for Memorial Medical Center, a career that suited her “take charge” personality well. Margaret was a feisty lady who enjoyed spending time with the family and friends she dearly loved. In addition to her son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, she absolutely adored her minister and his wife, and her caretakers.

For fun, Margaret looked forward to playing cards every Thursday with twins she had known for 80 plus years until she was 93 years old! She also enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and watching NASCAR races. Margaret was tickled to have the opportunity for a “ride along” in a NASCAR car years ago. Dedicating her free time as the neighborhood “watcher” was a duty she was proud to own, as well.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lewis Rentz.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Dr. Kenneth Bazemore (Sally) of Byron; grandchildren, Britt Bazemore (Kelly), Brandi Russell (Chip), Stacy Rentz (Bryce Wadrose) and Ryan Rentz (Robin); eight great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and niece, Mary Ann Ellis.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Parker officiating. Margaret will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be given in memory of Margaret to Byron Baptist Church, 100 W. White Road, Byron, GA 31008.
