Maria Mercedes Menendez

Maria Mercedes Menendez, 91, passed into the hands of her Lord on Saturday, January 23, 2016.

Maria was born on July 24, 1924 in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. She was a graduate of the University of Havana and continued her education at the University of Miami. Ms. Menendez taught in the Miami-Dade County School System for over 30 years before retiring. A devout Catholic woman, she was a faithful member of Church of the Little Flower – Coral Gables in Miami for 60 years. After moving to Warner Robins three years ago, Maria was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins. She was a true woman of God and an inspiration to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mario and Maria Domingo Menendez; brothers, Mario and Andres Menendez; nephews, Mario and Carlos Barroso; and great-nephew, John Martin.

Ms. Menendez's memory will forever be treasured by her sister, Marta Barroso of Warner Robins; nephew, Andres Barroso (Angela) of Macon; niece, Maria Butler (Jeff) of Grayson; nieces-in-law, Jackie Kilraine of Kathleen and Barbara Barroso of Roswell; and many adoring great-nieces and nephews.
