A Time To Be Born
Marvin Emmitt Raley was born in Crestview, Florida on December 1, 1919 and was the second child of Joseph Columbus Raley and Annie Pearl Edge Raley.
A Time To Plant
Emmitt graduated from Crestview High School in June 1938 and was in the Navy during WWII from 1942 until 1946. His working roles included welder and welding foreman, heat treater and heat treating foreman, and a foreman of all metal workshops at Brookley AFB in Mobile, AL from 1947 to 1966 then at Robins AFB in Warner Robins, GA from 1966 to 1981.
A Time To Love
Emmitt was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lillie Clara Garrett Raley. They were blessed with four children, Paula Raley Babb, Kenneth Marvin Raley, Vivian Raley Barfoot and Jerry Wayne Raley, ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren with number thirteen on the way.
A Time To Find
Emmitt's Christian faith began at home and was strengthened throughout his life with ministries and by his service in many capacities at Oakdale Baptist Church in Mobile, AL and Shirley Hills Baptist Church in Warner Robins, GA. Since moving to Montgomery, AL in 2005, he attended church at First United Methodist Church.
A Time To Reap
Emmitt retired in 1981 and found many ways to minister to others and enjoy his days of retirement including migrant worker ministry, working with children's ministries, serving as a deacon emeritus, participating yearly in Shirley Hills' Walk Through Bethlehem, and loving and caring for the needs of his family and those he befriended in the community. He enjoyed ï¬shing, gardening, ceramic works and woodworking. Emmitt never met a stranger and talked to everyone he met as if they were lifelong friends. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren every chance he got.
A Time To Die
Emmitt departed this life on March 29, 2015 peacefully surrounded by loved ones in his last hours.

Emmitt has many family members who have cherished him:
Paula and Johnnie Lee Babb, III and their children Johnnie Lee Babb, IV and Jacie Raley Babb, all of Marshallville, GA; Kenneth Marvin Raley, deceased; children Barbara Raley Turenne and husband Dale and their children, Julia, Kristen, Zachary, and Olivia all of Battleford, Saskatchewan; David Raley and wife Lori and their children Benjamin, Levi, and Dustin, of Fredericksburg, VA; Sara Joy Raley of Colorado Springs, CO; and Elisha Andrew Raley of Oklahoma City, OK; Vivian Raley Barfoot of Montgomery, AL; children Benjamin James Barfoot, deceased; Buffy Barefoot Cooper and husband Matt of Denver, CO. Wayne and Patsy Raley of Garland, TX ; Julie Raley Simons and husband Kurt and their children Luke, Ellie, and Jay also of Garland, TX. John Raley and wife Regina and their children Raegan and Emmitt of Wylie, TX

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Parkway Memorial Gardens.
