Mary Elizabeth Leary, 82, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Mary was born on May 14, 1943, in Fairview, WV to the late Roy and Alma Barbe. From an early age, she was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and deep love for those around her. Mary lived her life with purpose, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family, leaving a legacy of love that will be cherished for generations.
She had a great appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and found joy in traveling, camping, shopping and being a member of Singing Sams RV Club. Mary was also a faithful member of The Well at Centerville, where she found fellowship, worship, and strength in her walk of faith. Above all else, Mary’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Whether gathered for holidays, celebrations, or quiet moments together, she treasured every opportunity to be surrounded by those she loved.
Mary was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her beloved husband of 62 years, James W. Leary; her children, Kathy Holland (Jonathan) of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Kenneth “Kenny” Leary (Kelli) of Kathleen, Georgia; her brother, Bill Barbe (Iva) of Ridgecrest, California; her eight grandchildren, Carl Leary, Drew Meeks (Brandie), Crystal Leary, Christian Leary, Zack Leary, Stevie Leary, Sierra Leary and Leigh Brackin; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Alma Barbe, her brother Joseph Barbe and son, William “Billy” Leary.
Mary Elizabeth Leary will be deeply missed, but her love, faith, and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Our family would like to express our deepest appreciation to Will and Rachel of Karens Caregivers. Without their love, dedication and unwavering support for our mother and grandmother we truly don’t know where we would be. We are endlessly grateful for the compassion and care they provide every day.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at The Well at Centerville. Afterward, Mary will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
