Mary Ruth Hewett Wilkins, 77, passed away peacefully at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon.
Born in Lake City, FL, on October 16, 1946, Ruth was the daughter of the late John Milton Hewett and Eleanor Erlene Johnson. After earning her bachelor’s degree, Ruth served for over three decades as a pediatric nurse for Pediatric Associates.
Ruth was also a member of Central Baptist Church; she was involved in teaching children’s Sunday school for forty years, hosting Bible studies, camp class, and Awanas.
Ruth cared for her children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending many of their sports events. She was also an avid reader and took delight in cooking.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Carl G. Wilkins.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Trey Wilkins (Linda) of Byron, Steven Wilkins of Warner Robins, and Carrie Chastain (Mike) of Haddock; grandchildren, Luke Wilkins, Anna Wilkins, Eli, Kylie and Rex Chastain; brother, Jerry Hewett (Donna) of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-law, Charlotte Hewett of St. Augustine, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, with a memorial service following at 4:00 p.m. Ruth Wilkins will be laid to rest privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Mary Ruth Wilkins to Central Baptist Church Building Fund at 1120 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
