Mary Beth Cline Sanders, a truly remarkable woman whose life radiated joy, faith, and generosity, entered into Heaven’s gates on April 11, 2026.

She was born on March 22, 1946, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Walter and Elanor Mercer Cline. Mary Beth spent her early years in Tampa, West Palm Beach, and Miami, where her vibrant spirit and love of life began to shine. She graduated from Palmetto High School in Miami before continuing her education at the University of Georgia. She later transferred to Georgia State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry. Her passion for science led her to the Medical College of Georgia, where she earned her master’s degree in Pharmacology and conducted genetics research—an early reflection of her brilliant and inquisitive mind.

Mary Beth married the love of her life, John Sanders, an Air Force pilot and later chaplain. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, service, and adventure, living in various locations around the world. A gifted and lifelong concert organist, Mary Beth used her musical talents to serve wherever she went, playing the organ and leading choirs in base chapels, uplifting countless lives through music and worship.

Throughout her career, she worked as an office manager for financial institutions and engineering firms, and later served in civil service, including during their time in Germany, where she contributed to financing and business projects. She continued her civil service work at Robins Air Force Base, from which she eventually retired. In addition, she served as a Red Cross Regional Director while living in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Alaska, further demonstrating her heart for helping others.

Mary Beth was a woman of extraordinary talents and interests. She played four or five musical instruments, spoke several languages, and possessed a sharp intellect that inspired all who knew her. She also had a deep love for animals, especially cats, and lovingly rescued many throughout the years, giving them safe and caring homes.

Beyond her accomplishments, it was her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit that truly defined her. She found great happiness in crocheting, gardening, canning, and making jellies and jams—often sharing the fruits of her labor with others. She had a deep love for food preservation, reading, and natural medicines.

A devoted member of the Middle Georgia Choir Society, Mary Beth served on its board since 2014. Through this community, she shared her love of music and even traveled to England, Scotland, and Ireland to perform—experiences that reflected her adventurous nature and passion for life.

Above all, Mary Beth was a bright and shining light in this world. She was full of life, laughter, and love—someone who brought joy wherever she went. She loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them, creating lasting memories that they will forever hold in their hearts. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life, and she found great purpose in lifting up Christ and encouraging others. She was warm, generous, and welcoming, touching countless lives with her kindness and humor. To know Mary Beth was to experience light, love, and genuine joy.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, music, and love—a life beautifully lived and deeply felt by all who knew her. Though she is now at peace, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched.

In addition to her parents, Mary Beth was preceded in death by her brother, Walter M. Cline, II.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved husband of 53 years, John Sanders of Warner Robins, Georgia; children, Jennifer Hundley (Zeb) of Lincoln, Maine, Robert Sanders of Mansfield, Texas, and Michael Sanders (Brittany) of Raeford, North Carolina; grandchildren, Aiden Thomas Hundley, Keira Beth Hundley, Ashlyn Grace Sanders, and Elijah Clark Sanders.
