On the evening of Tuesday, April 12, 2023, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Maves Whetstone Scarborough Culp, passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was 92 years old.
Maves was born in Montgomery, AL on February 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Joseph Jacob and Lois Lucile Gaddy Whetstone. As a beautician, she loved making others feel and look their best. Maves was also a longtime, faithful member of Byron Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Scarborough, and her second husband, Odie C. Culp.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Steve Wayne Scarborough (Brenda) and Sandra Scarborough, both of Byron; grandchildren, Jeremy Scarborough, Michael Bilderbeck and Danny Scarborough; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Greyson and Madison; sister, Carolyn Hvolboll; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Maves will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Maves to Source of Light Ministries International, 1011 Mission Road, Madison, GA 30650.
