Maxine Mullins Hopper

Maxine Mullins Hopper, 82, entered into eternal rest on the morning of Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 26, 1943, Maxine was the daughter of the late O.M. Mullins and Merle Ashworth Mullins. She grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she graduated from Chattanooga High School. A gifted musician, she was a proud member of the marching band, played oboe in the orchestra, and sang in the church choir from a young age.

Maxine earned her Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology and met her husband while attending Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee. After moving to Warner Robins, Georgia, Maxine devoted herself to being a loving wife and mother, raising their children as a homemaker. Once her children were older, she worked as a lab technician across the Middle Georgia area. Along the way she worked at various hospitals and doctor’s offices, retiring after eight years of dedicated service at the Bleckley Memorial Hospital in Cochran.

Since 1972, Maxine became a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Her faith was central to her life. She taught Sunday School, was an active member of the Becomers Sunday School class, served in the Emmaus Table ministry, and was a faithful member of multiple church choirs.

A woman of many talents and interests, Maxine loved cross stitching, reading, traveling, and solving crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed baking her famous M&M cookies and her chocolate chip cakes which were treasured by family and friends alike. Maxine was also a breast cancer survivor; she gave generously of her time and heart to causes and organizations that served her church and community. Maxine was known for her joyful spirit, infectious laughter, and unconditional love for her family. She cherished nature and had a deep affection for animals, especially the many cats and dogs she lovingly cared for over the years.

Maxine will be remembered for her faith, kindness, strength, and loving spirit.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband, David Hopper; children, Mike Hopper (Frankie) of Sandy Springs, Doug Hopper (Karen) of Longs, South Carolina, and Amy Ayres (Mike) of Bonaire; grandchildren; Kevin, Jessica, Patrick, Alex, Nate, Nick, Emily, and Ashley; as well as one great-grandchild, Nova.

A memorial gathering will be Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Maxine to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, or to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 129 S. Houston Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
