With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Melanie Lynn Elliott, who passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday morning, July 18, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on February 14, 1949, in Jackson, Mississippi, Melanie was the daughter of the late Donald F. Garrett and Maxine V. Garrett. She earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Mississippi College for Women and began her career as a physical education teacher in Louisville, Mississippi. On May 31, 1973, she married the love of her life, Richard "Bill" William Elliott, Jr., and together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. After relocating to Oxford, Mississippi, Melanie enjoyed working for Elliotts Jewelry Store while continuing her teaching career.

In 1977, Bill and Melanie made Warner Robins their home. Melanie first worked with the Houston County Extension Office through the University of Georgia before joining the Houston County Sheriff's Office. She served in dispatch and later in the Records and Warrants Division, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring.

Melanie's greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and especially adored her grandchildren. She also loved traveling, spoiling her beloved dogs, and had a remarkable gift for making everyone she met feel like a friend. She truly never met a stranger.

Melanie's memory will be forever cherished by her devoted husband of 53 years, Richard "Bill" William Elliott, Jr. of Warner Robins; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jessica Elliott, and their son, Mason; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Kelly Elliott, and their child, Zoey; and her brother, Brent Garrett (Jackie) of Warner Robins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at St. Peters Cemetery in Oxford, Mississippi, where Melanie will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Melanie to Liberty Baptist Church, 1056 Kathryn Ryals Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
