Melvin Lawrence Watson, Sr.

Melvin Lawrence Watson, Sr., 82, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Born in Leeds, Alabama, on August 24, 1942, Melvin was the son of the late Arthur Watson and Eva Mae Morgan. Melvin transferred from Craig Air Force Base to Robins Air Force Base in 1976 and then earned his associate degrees from Georgia Military College.

A proud patriot, Melvin began his career by enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served for 13 years. Following his military service, he continued serving his country as a civilian, ultimately retiring from Robins Air Force Base as a C-5 Supervisor.

Melvin was also a gifted craftsman with a passion for cars; he spent much of his time rebuilding street rods. He was a proud member of the Pride of Dixie car club.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Watson; second wife, Cynthia Ray Watson; and grandson, Johnny “J.C.” Stewart.

His memory will forever be cherished by his children, Terrie Williams (Milton Williams) of Jeffersonville, Larry Watson (Stephanie Watson) of Warner Robins, and Tammy Stewart of Jeffersonville; grandchildren, Kathy Watson (Brake Logsdon), Madison Watson, Aaron Watson, Kary Stewart, Mike Williams, James Williams; great-grandchildren, Melissa Stone, Macie Williams, David Williams, Jonathan Williams; and one great-great-granddaughter, Gracie Stone; as well as his sister, Gloria Kirkpatrick of Adger, Alabama.

A visitation with Melvin’s family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. At the family’s request, Melvin will be laid to rest privately.
