Warner Robins

Retired United States Air Force Colonel Michael Paul Chaloult, 84, of Warner Robins, GA, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy defined by unwavering dedication to military service, deep commitment to his community, and devotion to his family.

Born on December 29, 1940, in Caribou, Maine, to Napoleon and Elsie Chaloult, Mike developed a passion for aviation in childhood that guided his life’s path. After graduating from Limestone High School in 1958 and attending Texas A&M University, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1961. Selected for the Aviation Cadet Program, Mike trained as a navigator, earning both his wings and officer commission. He started his service as a navigator bombardier on the B-57 and, during the Vietnam War, flew 211 combat missions with the 8th Bomb Squadron, exemplifying extraordinary courage and dedication. For his valor in aerial flight, he received two Distinguished Flying Crosses, ten Air Medals, and unit awards for heroism under combat conditions, including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm.

After Vietnam, Mike continued his service as a B-52 Instructor Electronic Warfare Officer and later graduated with distinction from the Air Command and Staff College. He then moved into roles in management, procurement, and logistics, ultimately achieving the rank of Colonel. For his outstanding conduct, he was awarded the Legion of Merit, two Meritorious Service Medals, two Air Force Commendation Medals, and several other honors reflecting his years of dedication to the Air Force. Mike retired from the Air Force in 1987 after 26 years of distinguished service.

Following his military career, Mike remained an active community leader and businessman. He worked as a site manager for ARINC for 11 years before starting his own business, MPC Management. For over 26 years, he was a proud Rotarian and served as president of the Warner Robins Rotary Club in 2001-2002. He also served as chairman of the Aerospace Industry Committee and contributed significantly to the Warner Robins Oral History Project, which received a state Award of Excellence in Archival Program Development by a Local Government.

Family was central to Mike’s life, and he treasured time spent with loved ones fishing, boating, tubing, and enjoying their weekend retreat on Lake Sinclair. He and his beloved wife, Billie Sue Chaloult, created a legacy of honor, strength of character, and commitment to family. He is survived by his children: sons Michael Chaloult Jr. (Wendy) and Christopher Chaloult (Lori), and daughter Kellye Chaloult Moore. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Jessica Chaloult Gilbert, Carly Moore, Sarah Chaloult, Nicholas Chaloult, Rachel Moore Allison, Benjamin Chaloult, and Anderson Chaloult, as well as five great-grandchildren.
