Michael John Habecker entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Michael lived a life marked by service, hard work, simple pleasures, and a deep devotion to those he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Michael continued his career at Robins Air Force Base, where he worked as an aircraft painter.

Michael was an old soul in a young man’s body. Somewhat of a homebody at heart, he was happiest enjoying life’s simple pleasures and spending time with those closest to him. He loved fishing, camping, and playing golf, and he especially treasured the time he spent horseback riding with his mother.

Michael also loved to cook, and those fortunate enough to enjoy his meals knew just how talented he was in the kitchen. Cooking was one of the many ways he brought warmth and enjoyment to the lives of those around him.

Above all, Michael cherished his wife, Christina, and his four children. For 34 years, Michael and Christina shared a marriage filled with love, companionship, and countless treasured memories. The life they built together and the devotion they shared were among Michael’s greatest joys.

He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Habecker.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Christina Habecker; his children, Steven Sluyter, Shannon Ginn, Elizabeth Dank, and Sara Conners; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Alice Habecker; and his siblings, Debbie Grierson and Marty Habecker.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Michael will be inurned at Andersonville National Cemetery.
