Michael Steven Jackson, age 74, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the many memories of a life well lived. Born on May 25, 1951, in Vienna, Georgia, Mike was the son of the late Garland Jackson and Mary Whittington Smith.
From an early age, Mike showed a natural athletic ability. As a two-sport athlete at Northside High School (Class of 1969), he excelled in both football and basketball. His talent on the basketball court led to a scholarship to Georgia Southwestern University, a proud accomplishment that reflected both his dedication and perseverance.
After college, Mike began working in construction, developing skills and craftsmanship that would serve him well throughout his life. After helping to build the local plant, he joined Brown & Williamson, where he would build a career over the next three decades. Mike steadily worked his way up through the company with hard work and integrity, earning the respect of all those around him. He retired in 2006 after 28 years of faithful service.
Though he worked hard, Mike's greatest joy was always found in the people he loved most. He devoted countless hours to coaching his sons in baseball and basketball, deeply involved in Warner Robins Little League and Warner Robins Recreation Department for many years. Mike always brought a quiet and steady presence. He believed that how you played the game mattered far more than whether you won, and he instilled in every young player the values of sportsmanship, honor, and integrity. He led not with a loud voice, but by example, and the lessons he taught on the field and court extended well beyond the game itself.
Outside of work and sports, Mike had a deep love for music and golf. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed time spent on the course with friends and family. Music was another gift he carried throughout his life. Whether playing guitar or singing, Mike brought warmth and joy, and those closest to him will forever treasure the music he made, and the memories created around it.
Above all, Mike will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and friend. He married his high school sweetheart, R'Jeanne Jackson, in 1973, and together they built a life centered around love, faithfulness, and family. Their life together of over 50 years was a beautiful example of steadfast commitment until R'Jeanne's passing in 2018. Mike lovingly cared for both his wife and his mother during their illnesses, serving them with tenderness, patience, and unwavering devotion. In later years, he was blessed to find love and companionship again with Beth, with whom he shared many happy moments and remained by her side in marriage until his passing.
His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and example.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Jackson.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Beth Jackson; and children, Kevin Jackson (Leah) of Atlanta, and Eric Jackson of Atlanta.
