Mitchell William Higgs

Mitchell William Higgs, 61, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2016.

Mitchell was born on November 5, 1954 in Steubenville, Ohio. After graduating high school he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his Air Force service, he began his career as an engineer retiring from Ball Corporation. Mitchell enjoyed flying remote control helicopters and traveling. He especially loved visiting the Caribbean.

His loving wife of 32 years, Arla Michelle Higgs, and parents, Kenneth Jerry and Betty Virginia Lamp Higgs, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his daughters, Julia Higgs-Blaschak (Mark) and Amanda McCormick (Thomas) all of Savannah; two grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Baldauf of Follansbee, West Virginia; Barbara Block of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers, Kenneth Higgs, Jr. of Toronto, Ohio; Mark Higgs and Roger Higgs, both of Oakland, Maryland; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A memorial service to celebrate Mitchell's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home in Weirton, West Virginia.
