Monica Lazaurs, of Centerville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the age of 61.
A graveside service to honor Monica’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Parkway Memorial Gardens, 720 Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins, GA.
Monica was born on May 14, 1965, to the late Richard and Glenda Lazaurs. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her grandparents, Hollis and Betty Caldwell; her brother, Herman Hollis Lazaurs; and her beloved nephew, Blane Lazaurs.
She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Julia Ann King, Danielle Newberry, Daniel Blazek (Ashley Blazek), Tyler Blazek (Carey Blazek), and in cherished memory, her late nephew, Blane Lazaurs, along with many extended family members and dear friends and co-workers who will forever cherish her memory. In addition, her beloved fur babies: Meko, Middy, Ashland and Nala will miss her dearly.
Monica proudly served her country in the United States Air Force before beginning a distinguished career in public safety and Georgia Department of Corrections for 32 years. She served starting as a Correctional Officer and rose through the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant prior to a career as a Public Safety Training Instructor, wearing her badge with pride and dedicating herself to training and mentoring others before her retirement.
Outside of her career, Monica had a deep love for animals and devoted countless hours to animal rescue efforts. She was an integral part of the Equine Rescue Program, where she helped rehabilitate horses and worked tirelessly to give neglected and abused animals a second chance. Her compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping both people and animals reflected the kind of person she was.
Monica will be remembered for her strength, dedication, generous heart, and the lasting impact she made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever be cherished, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
