Colen R. McDonald, 87, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
Colen was born on July 20, 1935 in Montgomery County, Georgia to the late Luther and Carrie McDonald. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of nineteen serving honorably for twenty years. His career consisted of Aircraft Radar repair and missile systems analyst on the AGM 28B Hound Dog. Retiring from the Air Force in 1974, he was employed as an aircraft instrument worker at Robins Air Force Base where he performed periodic maintenance and repair of Gyros used on military aircraft and ships around the world.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Wendell McDonald and sister, Jaunette Grizzard.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Jean McDonald, children, Kim McDonald of Bonaire, Rodney McDonald (Katiana) of Dawsonville; stepchildren, Nelda Pettis of Bonaire, Debbie Davidson of Alton Illinois, Sherry Scott of Bonaire, Chuck Davidson of Bonaire and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Bonaire Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Colen McDonald the Bonaire Methodist Church Building Fund at 221 Church St. #96, Bonaire, Georgia 31005.
