Msgt. John D. Oglesby, Usaf (Ret.)

John David Oglesby, 80, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019.

John was born in Savannah, Georgia, the son of the late Harold D. Oglesby and Vernita Lamb Wells. In 1965, John was wed to Shirley Wallace with whom he enjoyed 53 years of marriage.

For 22 years, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and continued to work in civil service at Robins Air Force Base following his military retirement.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, David Brandon Oglesby (Shawn) of Sugar Hill and Amy Oglesby Self (Shane) of Macon; grandchildren, Dalton and Colby Self, Ava and Aaron Oglesby; and siblings, Belver and Robert Oglesby and Linda Munch.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. John will be laid to rest later that afternoon in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville at 2:30 p.m.
