Myra Avis McCook Taylor, 89, entered into rest on Thursday, January 9, 2014.
Myra was born on December 25, 1924 in Gordon, Georgia. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Myra retired from the Houston County Board of Education where she dedicated many years of employment as the Lunchroom Manager at Parkwood Elementary School. She truly enjoyed cooking and spending time with her loving family. Myra, a faithful servant of the Lord, loved her church and her church family. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her husband, Melvin Earl Taylor; her parents, James Lawrence and Effie Mae (NeSmith) McCook; sister, Martha McCook; and brothers, Joe and Max McCook; all preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Jeff Taylor, Macon; Charlotte Stuart (Glenn), Garner, North Carolina; Barbara Taylor, Warner Robins; brother, Tommy McCook, Gordon; grandchildren, Daryl Stuart (Melissa), Garner, North Carolina; great granddaughter, Aubrie Grace; aunts, Connie Etheridge and Mona Eady; and nephew, Tommy McCook, Jr.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 12, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 57, Wilkinson County, Georgia.
