Nellie Jordan Baggett entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. With a heart devoted to serving the Lord and loving those around her, Nellie leaves behind a cherished legacy of kindness, compassion, and countless prayers lifted on behalf of others.
Born on December 28, 1936, in Bradleyton, Alabama, Nellie graduated from Highland Home School and then married the love of her life, Charles Baggett, in 1954, and together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and love. Nellie devoted herself to being a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home where family and friends were always cherished. She was a wonderful cook, and those fortunate enough to gather around her table knew that every meal was prepared with love. In her quieter moments, Nellie enjoyed working word searches and playing dominoes and Mexican Train dominoes, especially when those activities brought opportunities to spend time with the people she loved.
Above all else, Nellie's greatest love was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about, but something she lived out each and every day. As a longtime, devoted member of Second Baptist Church, Nellie treasured her church family and the fellowship she shared with her beloved Friendship Life Group Sunday School Class. She had a genuine heart for others and was especially known for her faithful prayer life. When someone was facing a difficult season, celebrating a blessing, or simply needed encouragement, they could count on Nellie to lift their name before the Lord. She didn't just promise to pray for people; she truly prayed for them, faithfully and wholeheartedly. Her prayers were an expression of the deep love she had for God and for those He placed in her life.
Nellie touched countless hearts through her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and genuine love for others. She was a blessing to her family, a treasured friend to many, and a shining example of what it means to walk faithfully with the Lord. Though her earthly presence will be deeply missed, her family and friends find comfort in knowing that the Savior she loved and served so faithfully has welcomed her into her eternal home.
Nellie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Charles Baggett; granddaughter, Rachael Flowers; parents, Henry Nelson and Gladys Jordan Nelson; sons-in-law, Rickey Goodwin, and Alton Flowers; and brothers, Charles Nelson and Earl Nelson.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Susan Goodwin of Macon, Brenda Barrow (George) of Egypt, GA., Charlene Flowers of Centerville, and Tammy McGuire (Kevin) of Crawford County; grandchildren, Amanda, Lisa, Megan, Larry (Brittany), Andrew (Kristen), and Austin; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Jared, Lyla, J.R., and Oliver; and brother, Harold Nelson (Cheryl).
Visitation will be Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Nellie will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
