Nina Joan Ritzer

July 2, 1938 — June 8, 2024

Bonaire

Nina Joan Ritzer, 85, entered into rest on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Joan was born on July 2, 1938, in Oakland, California to the late Hugh and Frances Luby. Family was always first to Joan, and she made time and space for those she loved whenever she could; whether through heartfelt conversations or shared laughter, Joan cultivated bonds that transcended time and distance. Beyond her devotion to family, Joan found solace and joy in exploration. Among her favorite destinations were the sun-kissed shores of Pass-A-Grille, Florida, and the rugged beauty of Cannon Beach, Oregon. Each trip was an opportunity to revel in the wonders of the world and create cherished memories that would endure a lifetime. With impeccable taste and an eye for elegance, Joan's zest for life manifested in her love for shopping, indulging in fine dining experiences, and attending Corvette Club activities with her beloved husband, Allan. She leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, a testament to a life well-lived and deeply cherished. Joan's presence will be sorely missed, but her spirit will forever linger in the hearts of those who were touched by her grace.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brother and best friend, Dan Luby and beloved grandson, Gerrit Asher Dempsey.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 62 years, Col. Allan E. Ritzer, USAF (Ret.); children, Heidi Glade (Kevin), Jill Lang (Seth), Holly Wade (Bob), and Jennifer Dempsey (Van); grandchildren, Elizabeth Glade, Cody Lang, Nash Lang (Cheyanne), Drew Wade (Blair), Millie Parke (Jeff), Ross Dempsey, and Hayden Dempsey (Mary Katherine); great-grandchildren, Savina Lang, Kamdyn Lang, Avery Lang, Presley Wade, Walker Wade, and Lochlan Parke along with many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
