In the early morning hours of Friday, August 12, 2016, Oppie Lee Jackson joined her beloved husband of 24 years, Drewie Jackson in heaven. She was 98 years old.
Oppie Lee was born to the late Perry and Mattie Parkerson Livingston in Dodge County, Georgia on April 6, 1918. She retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base and worked for 15 years at Snellgrove Seafood Restaurant.
A devout Christian woman, Mrs. Jackson was a former longtime member of Second Baptist Church and most recently called Green Acres Baptist her church home. She was also a devoted member of the Order of the Easter Star. Oppie Lee loved to bake and was well-known for the Italian crème cake she made for friends and family. She enjoyed watching wrestling on television, as well, and no one better tell her that it wasn't real! Mrs. Jackson's sweet personality and caring disposition will always be remembered with a smile by everyone she knew.
In addition to her husband and parents, Oppie was preceded in death by her grandson, Jason Kyle Enckler.
She leaves her memory behind with her loving children, Melinda Gullett of Fort Myers, Florida, Wayne Jackson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Sheree Barton of Centerville; grandchildren, Karen Thomas, Mike Garbutt, Lindsey, Caitlin, and Logan Jackson; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Mrs. Jackson's caretakers, Lois Haslam and Johnette Ridley for their never-ending care and support of their mother.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 13th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 14th in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Dr. Johnny Ellison officiating. Afterwards, Mrs. Jackson will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
Friends can reach the family at Mrs. Jackson's residence, 200 Heather St., Warner Robins, GA 31093.
