Patty Sue Blackburn Mason passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her loving family, on April 2, 2026. She was born on September 25, 1939, to the late Henry Thomas Blackburn and the late Clara Belle Watson Blackburn.
Patty attended high school and business school in Macon, after which she began her career at Robins Air Force Base. In May of 1962, she married the love of her life, Eugene Lamar Mason, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Patty dedicated nearly three decades as a legal secretary in Roberta, working first with Mincey & Mincey and later with Mincey & Green, LLC, Attorneys at Law. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career. Giving back to her community was very important to Patty. For many years, she led a Relay for Life team for the American Cancer Society and also dedicated herself to serving as a poll worker during elections.
Patty was a longtime member of Hardison Baptist Church in Byron and later Mabel White Baptist Church after moving closer to her children. Her faith remained a guiding light in her life, and she continued as a devoted member until her health no longer allowed her to attend.
In her free time, Patty found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved fishing with her husband and grandchildren, cherishing those special moments together. She enjoyed taking walks, cooking and baking for her family, and creating a warm, welcoming home. Patty also had a love for travel, especially going on cruises and making lasting memories along the way.
In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Mason; and her siblings, Shirley Frances Weaver and Jerry Blackburn.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Teresa Campbell Gore of Byron, Karen Smith (Randy) of Macon, and Kevin Mason (Kinsey) of Macon; grandchildren, Jesse Campbell of Portland, Oregon, Tyler Campbell of El Paso, Texas, Courtlyn Smith Rodgers (John) of Macon, and Kyle Smith (Caroline) of Macon; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Grace Campbell of St. Petersburg, Florida, Sara Katherine Smith of Macon, and John Hudson Rodgers of Macon; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be Monday, April 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
