Paul “Ja” Jarrett Murray, Sr, a resident of Centerville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2024. He was born in Sherman, Texas, to proud parents Paul Murray and Martha Olene Murray. Ja’s journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and unwavering strength.

Throughout his life, Ja embraced various roles, but none brought him more joy than that of a devoted husband and father. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his wife, Christine Murray; three cherished children: CW3 Paul Jarrett Murray Jr (Samantha), Marcus Allen Murray (Kali), and Andrew Paul Murray (Elizabeth). Ja’s loved extended beyond his biological family, as he also embraced his bonus sons: Randy Edward McCrary (Petra) and Andy Scott McCrary (Melissa).

Family was at the heart of Ja’s life and he found immense joy in his role as grandfather. His grandchildren: Taylor Grace, Dallas, Jackson, Paxton, Pierson, Wesley, Cheyenne, Benson, Damian, Breyanna, Mya, Byron, Alexis, Andy, and Chloe; brought him immeasurable happiness and pride.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Benson Murray. When his older brother passed, he found joy in taking care of his parents with all his heart.

Ja started working at 13 years old and then joined the Navy after high school, serving both on the U.S.S. Nimitz and U.S.S. Dewey. After his time in the service, he worked in the restaurant and grocery industries. He took pride in whatever job he was doing. He then pursued his CDL and put it to use, thoroughly enjoying his adventures as a truck driver over the open road.

He loved spending time with his family. He was prideful of every achievement and accomplishment each one accomplished.
