Paul Hamilton Smith, 80, of Warner Robins, Georgia went to rest in the arms of Jesus on September 26, 2025. Paul was born November 28, 1944, in Broxton, Georgia. He grew up on a small hay farm in Hazlehurst, GA with his adoptive parents rooted in a southern Christian lifestyle. He received a BSEd, a MEd and an EdS from several colleges and universities to include Brewton Parker College, Georgia Southern University, East Carolina, West Georgia College, Georgia State and the University of Georgia.
Paul devoted his professional career to education retiring from Houston County Board of Education as a respected counselor/educator. He inspired countless students through his commitment to growth and learning at Middle Georgia Technical College, Houston County High School and Watson Alternative School. He also retired from Robins Air Force Base where he worked as a training manager and carried out tasks for maintenance support personnel. Known for his generosity, kindness and love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he left a profound impact on everyone he met. Paul never met a stranger and did not hesitate to help anyone in need.
Paul’s interests included farming, golfing, woodworking, landscaping and community service through his volunteer work at The Well at Centerville. He was a member of Christian Heritage Sunday School Class, the Men at the Well and worked faithfully in the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet outreach missions. He served in the USAF during the Vietnam War. His patriotism, love of his country and his strong faith were defining characteristics of who Paul strived to be. He was often heard to say that he wanted to be greeted one day with the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Paul is survived by his son, Rodney (Michelle) Smith, his daughter, Nicole (Cody) Williams, 9 grandchildren, his brother, Jimmy G. Jones (Ellen) as well as a host of extended family members and good friends to include his committed partner, Brenda H. Craw. He is preceded in death by his spouse, Jimmie Sue Hall Smith, biological parents, Paul H. Jones, Sr and Ethel Veal Jones, his adoptive parents, Ki Smith and Evelyn Smith and his sister, Syble Anne Jones.
The family will have a memorial gathering to greet friends on October 2, 2025, at 10:00 am at The Well at Centerville and a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. with Rev. Tommy Odum officiating. Paul will be laid to rest with full military honors at Andersonville National Cemetery in a private service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Paul to The Well at Centerville located at 600 North Houston Lake Blvd, Centerville, GA 31028. Paul’s faith has carried him through a life well lived with dignity, grace and humility.
