Peggy Rainwater Smith

Peggy Smith, loving wife, mother, great-great-grandmother, and sister, walked into the loving arms of Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 16, 2016. She was 79.

Peggy was born on July 2, 1936 in Oklaunion, Texas to the late Roscoe and Rebecca Kayes Rainwater. She was a lovely homemaker who devoted her life to worshipping God, serving her husband, raising her children, and spoiling her grandchildren. Peggy was a longtime member of Green Acres Baptist Church. She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening, country music, dancing and traveling in the RV. Peggy's family was the pride and joy of her life and her memory will live on forever in their hearts.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sons, David and Jimmy Strickland; and her brother, Gene Paschael.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her devoted husband of 52 years, David L. Smith of Byron; children, Cheryl Lewis of Duluth, Kelly Sisson of Macon and Danny Smith (Monica) of Byron; 23 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Tommy Rainwater of Sherman, Texas; and a host of adoring nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with funeral services following at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
