Philip F. Fennell

October 22, 1955 — March 26, 2023

On the evening of Sunday, March 26, 2023, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Philip F. Fennell, passed away in Augusta, at the age of 67. He was born on October 22, 1955 in Macon, GA, to Kenneth Franklin Fennell and the late Suzanne Shelley Fennell.

Philip Fennell spent 50 years in the workforce, his final position being retail management. However, his true profession and passion, fueled by a deep hunger for wisdom, was loving and serving those around him.

Proverbs chapter 8 personifies wisdom as one calling from the public square, begging humankind to heed her instruction that wisdom is more valuable than all the wealth in the world.

In his virtuous and virtuosic pursuit of knowledge, Philip gathered the tools needed to answer the greatest call.

Micah 6:8 says:

“Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.”

No matter who crossed paths with him each day, Philip had concern, compassion, and action to make them feel respected, valued and loved.

Philip was a man who answered the call of Wisdom, absorbing her instruction as a river absorbs the rain, overflowing and providing the water of life to all that grows on its banks.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was a lifetime learner and avid reader.

In addition to his mother, Philip was preceded in death by his sister, Suzanne Michelle (Cissie) Eberhardt.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Connie Smith Fennell; children, Carrie Fennell Boehringer (Craig), Bryan Fennell and David Fennell (Missy); grandchildren, Devon Fennell, Carissa Boehringer and Isla Boehringer; father, Kenneth Franklin Fennell; and siblings, Patsy Fennell Poole (David), Mike Fennell (Valerie) and Ken Fennell (Sheila).
