During the afternoon of Friday, April 5, 2024, Philip Leon Manning, 70, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven.
Phil was born on March 4, 1954, in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late Leon and Wilma Cowan Manning. Growing up as an Air Force “brat”, Phil lived in Ashville, Ohio; Lincoln, Nevada; and Tucson, Arizona before his final move to Warner Robins when his father retired from the Air Force. Phil graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors of Science in Geology and then completed his Masters of Geology at Georgia. He also obtained a Business Masters from Georgia College. Phil was the epitome of a loving, Christian man. He loved spending time in the woods with his dear friends and watching Gun Smoke and other westerns. A man of character and warmth, Phil was a committed member of Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Darrel, who he loved dearly. Phil celebrated his 70th birthday on March 4, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all of those that had the honor of knowing him.
His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife of thirty-eight years, Dr. Terry Lynn Manning; daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Manning of Atlanta; son, Dr. Evan Philip Manning (Catherine) and granddaughter, Lucie, of San Antonio, Texas.
Visitation with Phil’s family will be Monday, April 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with the funeral service, celebrating his life, following in the chapel.
