Reba Joanne “Granny” West, 79, was reunited with her husband, parents, granddaughter, and brothers, in heaven on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Born on August 6, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, Joanne was the daughter of the late Owen and Jimmie Mangrum Norris.
Joanne was best known as “Granny.” Sweet and sassy, she loved the Lord with all her heart and was a lifelong member of Southside Baptist Church. She served for over four decades ministering to children, whether leading Awana or teaching Sunday School, she delighted in their laughter and curiosity. Joanne was also known for her signature purple hair, bags of candy, and her beloved Splenda, which she carried everywhere. She was friendly and never met a stranger. Joanne was also a familiar face at Kroger, where she enjoyed chatting with everyone in the aisles.
Family was Joanne’s greatest joy. She treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the pride of her heart, and all those she loved like family.
In addition to her life of love, Joanne proudly served her country in the United States Army.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Dean West; granddaughter, Christine Brunsman; and brothers, Billy Norris, Jerry Wiley, and Kenny Norris.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Felicia Register (Danny), Jerry West (Laura), and Jimmy West; grandchildren, Tony West, Katie Wyatt, Nic Wyatt, Shelby Love, David Love, Lyndsey West, Blaine Johnson, Christopher West, Hannah West, Tara West, and Michael Lange; great-grandchildren, Mason Wyatt, Harrison Wyatt, Leah Gonzalez, Ava Williams, Weston Love, Eastlyn Joanne Johnson; and sister, Nina Keen; as well as several other beloved extended family members and friends.
