Rebecca Dew Jones, born October 15, 1985, in Albany, Georgia, passed away suddenly and entered into eternal rest on March 15, 2026.
She attended Warner Robins High School, graduating in 2004, and went on to Georgia State University in Atlanta, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2008.
Rebecca was a woman of determination and purpose. After graduating high school, she earned her Bachelor’s degree and went on to build a meaningful career as a fraud specialist with Robins Financial Credit Union, where her diligence and integrity made a lasting impact.
Rebecca’s world revolved around her son, Hank — her greatest pride, her deepest joy, and the center of everything she dreamed about and worked toward. Among her proudest accomplishments was providing him a home — a place that was truly theirs — earned through determination and grit that defined so much of who she was.
She drew endless inspiration from her mother, Dew, whom she regarded as her most important role model, confidant, and truest friend. She often reflected on the selflessness and love her mother showed her and carried that example into her own life as a parent.
Rebecca was a woman of rich and eclectic passions. She loved all things vintage, especially the colors, furniture, and design of the 1970s. Her home was filled — every shelf, every nook — with books. She was a devoted journaler, list-maker, and collector of artwork and quotations; skillful in handwriting styles and a master of scrapbooks. She found deep satisfaction in coloring — always inside the lines — believing the more crayons, colored pencils, and Sharpies available, the better.
An artist and poet at heart, Rebecca was drawn to mixed-media art and the way images and words could stir emotion and inspiration. She loved music — with a special place for bluegrass and Willie Nelson — and was captivated by movies and television series that were complex, mysterious, and full of wonder.
Rebecca cherished sunshine and the beach, but also the quiet beauty of the rain and the Moon. She poured herself into her home and yard, gardening and tending flowers and plants, creating a space that was both beautiful and safe. Her beloved cat, Louie, was a constant companion, as she once lovingly wrote: “No matter how much room there is for Louie, he will always choose to lay right on top of whatever I’m working on. I love him so much.”
She was a gifted storyteller who loved to reminisce about growing up — the moves, the road trips, the vacations, and the everyday moments shared with her father, mother, and brothers across the many places they called home. She found deep, wholehearted joy in laughter — especially the kind that comes from celebrating the small, absurd moments of everyday life with those you love.
Rebecca also took pride in the lighter things — including her undeniable mastery of Donkey Kong Country on the Super Nintendo, a skill she honed to the point of surpassing her older brother.
She believed deeply in becoming a better person — not someday, but today. She was a lifelong student of self-improvement and reflection, always reading, always growing. She gave gifts with extraordinary thoughtfulness, choosing each one with care, and never lost sight of gratitude. In her own words: “So for today, we will be grateful. Grateful for the results of hard work and determination, and grateful for every day we have with the people we love.”
Rebecca lived with intention, creativity, and love. She let the sunshine in.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, Jonathon Hank Shaver; parents, Senna Dew and Terry O’Gorman of Bonaire, Georgia; siblings, Brian O’Gorman of Denver, Colorado, Luke Parobek (Jessica) of Fairfax, Virginia, Geoff O’Gorman (Ashley) of Gray, Georgia, Jonathan O’Gorman of Aiken, South Carolina, Scott O’Gorman of Commerce, Georgia
