Reverend Dorothy Wilkins Roberts

May 25, 1918 — April 16, 2015

Dorothy Wilkins Roberts, 96, walked into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of Thursday, April 16, 2015.

Sister Dorothy was born on May 25, 1918 in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late Everett Olan and Effie Tanner Hutsler. She became a Christian at the age of ten and immediately began preaching the next day, weeping with sincerity as she told anyone who would listen to her that Jesus had saved her when she didn't even know she was lost. Her evangelistic style was reminiscent of the early forties and fifties when evangelists were on fire for God and preached with passion for lost sinners. Sister Roberts was an elegant, sincere, lady of prayer, who touched the lives of hundreds for eternity. At the age of 96, Grandmáma could still bring a congregation to their feet with her singing and could draw them to an altar for repentance or for prayer for healing. She served as an evangelist for over seventy years in Illinois, Arkansas and Georgia. She preached salvation through the shed blood of Jesus and divine healing with a fervency that has never wavered. In addition to her parents, Sister Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved first husband, Willie G. Wilkins; second husband, Jack Roberts; sons, Everette B. Wilkins and Richard L. Wilkins; grandsons, Monte Wilkins and Kerry Wilkins; great-grandson, Josh Wilkins; sister, Wilma Barger and brother, Everette "Buddy" Hutsler.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Rev. David G. Wilkins (Edith) of Warner Robins, Georgia and Cheryl W. Sanford (Michael) of Louisville, Georgia; grandchildren, Marcus Wilkins (Carol), Neysa Semmler (Alex), Olan Wilkins (Mallory), Alexandra and Brandon Sanford, and Charmin Young (Creighton); great-grandchildren, Christina Brown (Christopher), Angela Adams (Chris), Melissa Wilkins, newest edition, Grant Wilkins, Terah Cannon (Josh) and Matthew Young; and great-great-grandchildren, MaKayla and Alexis Adams, Aubrey and Bailey Kate Brown, and Reid and Ryker Cannon.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
