Richard David “Dave” Morgan, 85, passed away on November 29, 2024. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, leaving behind a lasting legacy filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories.
Dave was born in Griffin, GA, and was raised among his beloved Morgan uncles, aunts, and cousins.
His family meant the world to him, and he often reminisced about his time working on the Morgan Dairy Farm, a place where he formed lifelong bonds with his cousins. He cherished the sense of comradery in the Morgan family, where they always stood by one another through thick and thin.
In the late 1970s, Dave moved to Dallas, TX, where he made his home and worked in commercial and residential real estate, as well as in the oil and gas industry. He was a driven man, constantly on the lookout for his next project. His passion for life was matched only by his love for music. Throughout his life, Dave shared his gift of song, singing in various choirs and bringing joy to all who heard him.
Dave had a playful spirit, often pulling pranks, especially on his children. He made sure that every moment spent with loved ones was meaningful and intentional, always ensuring that they knew how much they were loved.
In his own words, Dave wanted to leave a message for those who loved him: “The legacy I leave behind is six of the most wonderful people I have ever known.” His children carry a part of him in each of their lives—their laugh, walk, mannerisms, ability to dream, and his signature shuffle. His contribution will continue in each of them. No matter the distance or time that separated him from his children, they truly loved each other. His family will hold on to the fond memories of the gentle man with a big laugh. Dave will be missed and loved until his family is completed in Heaven one day.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Gladys Morgan; his brother, Gary Morgan; and his son, Byron Morgan.
Dave is survived by his wife of 30 years, Maria Morgan; children Dawn Martin, Darien Morgan (Beverly), Chris Morgan (Mathew), Boston Morgan, and Baylor Morgan; stepchildren: Stephanie Coultas (Mark) and Alex Blackburn (Meghan); grandchildren, Faith Sandoval (Daniel), Kayla Williams (Rodney), Kirk Martin (Amy), Dustin Morgan (Gabrielle), Brad Morgan-Thomas (Mike), Collin Morgan (Dana), Dillon Morgan (Bethany), Mason Morgan (Macey), and Aaron Morgan (Kaitlyn); and step-grandchildren: Lauren, Luke, Hannah, and Emily Coultas.
