Richard M. Maddox

Richard Maddox passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. He was 46. He was born on December 22, 1973 in Macon, Georgia to Patricia Maddox Huckaby and the late Larry Sirmans.

Richard possessed a natural talent for building things and absolutely loved it from the time he was young. He was a successful carpenter by trade and loved teaching others how to build. He was witty, funny, and had a great sense of humor; there was nothing he loved more than a good joke or a funny story. In Richard’s free time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and Sunday football.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Huckaby.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving best friend of 29 years and wife of 22 years, Shannon Maddox; son, Michael Dalton Maddox; mother and stepfather, Patricia and Nathan Huckaby; brothers, Scott and Ryan Sirmans; sister, Debbie Sirmans; brothers-in-law, Shawn Ballock and Joseph Amaya; aunt, Linda Chavez; several extended family members and friends; and Matchmaker of the Century, Michelle Hobbs.

A memorial service celebrating Richard’s life be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2020, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Chaplain Lance Merritt officiating.
