With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Richard “Rick” Wheeler Ruffin, who passed away on the evening of Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the age of 71.
Born on June 19, 1955, in Columbus, Georgia, Rick was the son of the late Ernest Cecil and Mildred Hester Ruffin. He proudly retired from his career as a Civil Servant at Robins Air Force Base after more than 30 years of dedicated service to his country.
Rick had a deep love for the Lord, cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, and found great joy in fishing. Those who knew Rick will fondly remember that he loved the Lord and his family dearly—but absolutely hated cheese!
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his sons, Jamie and Ryan Ruffin, and his sister, Janet Harrison.
Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his daughters, Wendy Gray (Al) of Lizella; Michelle Barraza (Bal) of Fate, Texas; Sandy Ruffin (Jake) of Seattle, Washington; and Amanda Spires (William) and Jessica Walker (David), both of Warner Robins. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Megan Black, Paige Gray, Jason Black, Nicholas Seward, Victoria Nelson, Kristopher Seward, William Spires, Jr., and Ryan Spires, along with three precious great-grandchildren.
Rick’s love, faith, and devotion to his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished so dearly.
Visitation with Rick’s family will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, with Pastor Tracy Jantz officiating.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
