A true Middle Georgia native, Robert F. Shiver, Jr., passed away on the morning of Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at the age of 77. The son of the late Robert F. Shiver, Sr. and Lucille Shiver, Robert was born in Macon, Georgia. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his time in the military, Robert worked for Warner Robins Supply before taking a position on Robins Air Force Base where we worked as an Electronic Technician until his retirement. A true Georgia Bulldog fan, Robert could always be spotted sporting his Bulldog attire. His favorite pastimes included crappie fishing on Lake Blackshear and Sinclair, and camping with his wife, Mary. Their favorite places to visit were St. George Island, Mexico Beach, and the Okefenokee Swamp. Robert was a friendly fellow with a sense of humor and could be described as a jokester, always in good fun. Most of all, Robert was loved by those who knew him and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sons, Franklin “Frankie” Shiver, Robert “Bobby” Shiver, Richard “Ricky” Shiver; and sister, Loretta Vurgos.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 17 years, Mary Helen Shiver; grandchildren, Jeremy Shiver, Josh Shiver, and Chris Shiver; sister, Barbara Ann Napier (Bobby); stepchildren, Michele Groover and Larry Holley; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Shiver will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29. 2019, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with a memorial gathering immediately following until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
