Kathleen

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Robert Lee Haines, Sr., who peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 5, 2025, at the age of 68.

Born on March 18, 1957, in Washington, D.C., Robert was the cherished son of the late Roger Haines, Sr. and Dorothy Fowler Hall. From a young age, Robert lived a life defined by hard work, deep devotion, and unwavering love for his family.

Shortly after high school, Robert married the love of his life and lifelong soulmate, Jody Haines, beginning a beautiful journey of marriage that lasted 50 years. Together, they built not only a home but a legacy rooted in faith, family, and love.

Robert was a true craftsman and businessman, founding H & H Construction in the 1980s and successfully operating it for several decades. In the early 2000s, he took pride in launching Haines & Son Construction alongside his middle son—a testament to the strong bonds he shared with his children. Although he medically retired in 2010, his passion for building and mentoring remained strong.

More than anything, Robert was a devoted husband, father, and Paw Paw. He delighted in watching his grandchildren play sports and could often be found cheering them on from the sidelines. His playful spirit shone through in his love for Legos and storytelling, especially during the precious days he spent running “Paw Paw’s Daycare,” where he lovingly cared for several of his grandchildren.

In his earlier years, Robert enjoyed coaching youth sports, woodworking with care and precision, and the thrill of the open road on his motorcycle. He brought warmth and strength to every endeavor and to every person lucky enough to know him.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert “Robby” Haines, Jr.; siblings, Roland Haines, Jerry Haines, Viola McKinney, and Rachel Hall.

Robert’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his beloved wife Jody; his children; Ryan Haines (Risa) and John Roland Haines (Elizabeth); and grandchildren, Dawson Welborn, Robert “Tres” Haines, Benjamin “Benji” Haines, Katelyn Haines, Madeline “Maddie” Haines, Bentley Haines, Hendrix Haines, and Hayloh Haines; siblings, Roger “Roddy” Haines, Jr. (Debbie) and Lisa Benard; best friend for over thirty years, Mark Oliver; and his beloved dog, Mia; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel. Afterward, Robert will be laid to rest privately.
