Roberta Ravold Barr, 75, joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven on Friday, January 9, 2026.
Born in New York City, New York, on November 15, 1950, Roberta was the daughter of the late Henry Walter Ravold and Barbara Schwarz Ravold. She was raised on Long Island, New York, and graduated from Central Islip High School in 1968.
Roberta pursued her passion for education by attending Georgia College in Milledgeville, where she earned a Bachelor of Education. She later received her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Georgia, followed by a Specialist Degree.
Dedicated to a life of service and learning, Roberta enjoyed a long and successful career with the Houston County Board of Education, where she served for 30 years. Her career in administration and education included serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. After retiring in 2002, her love for teaching continued as she spent nearly 20 additional years in education.
Roberta had a deep appreciation for God’s creation and loved the mountains, hiking, waterfalls, and traveling. In later years, she found joy in crafting, including making soap, candles, and paper jewelry.
Faith was the cornerstone of Roberta’s life. She faithfully served on mission trips to El Salvador, the Bahamas, and Haiti while attending Harvest Church. She also previously attended the Church in the Orchard in Fort Valley. Most recently, she was part of the World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Roberta will be remembered for her loyalty and thoughtfulness. She was humble, intelligent, and sincere. With an exceptional memory, she never forgot a birthday and always made others feel remembered and valued. Above all, she loved Jesus and her family more than anything.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband, Charles Bruce Barr; daughter, Janna Barr Hayes (Ben) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jonah and Liberty Hayes; sister-in-law, Cindy Barr; siblings, Barbara Vassallo, Jeanette Miles, John Ravold (Annette); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other beloved extended family members and friends.
