Rodney Dwayne Pickle, 60, passed away on May 11, 2026. Born in Palestine, Texas, Rodney was the beloved son of the late Robert Pickle and Donna Norris Pickle.
After graduating high school, Rodney proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to serving his community as a volunteer firefighter with Houston County, where through hard work and commitment he rose to the rank of Assistant Chief. Rodney also greatly loved his work as Transportation Manager with Champ 511, where he took pride in the relationships he built and the work he accomplished each day.
Rodney was a man who loved deeply and worked tirelessly. Above all else, he was devoted to his family. He cherished every moment spent with his granddaughter, finding endless joy in playing with her and making memories she will forever hold close. Thursday family dinners were especially dear to him, as nothing meant more to Rodney than gathering together with the people he loved most.
A true family man, Rodney’s love, strength, and dedication touched everyone who knew him. His hardworking spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always and missed beyond measure.
In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his brother Danny Pickle.
His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Kellie Pickle; children, Sgt. Katlynn Virginia Pickle, Mary Elizabeth Pickle, and Michael Robert Pickle (Christina); granddaughter, Olivia Ray Pickle; siblings, Rusty Pickle (Sheri), Terry Pickle (Sherie), and Tami Whither (Bruce); and other immediate and extended family.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Rodney will be laid to rest privately.
